Independence Day

Realizing that the internet is global, I should explain that Americans celebrate Independence Day on this date.  We generally, have family Bar-B-Qs, watch baseball and wait for ridiculously long periods of time to watch 20 min firework shows.

It’s a holiday where most shops and stores close early and people rush about to be with their families or enjoy some time off.  People have flags and banners displayed and there is a sense of pride that we are a nation of 50 states and several territories all trying to work together.  We also remember those fellow citizens who have died for our country and our existence.

Here is a little trivia:

2 of our states were countries in their own right before they applied to become states.  Those are the Republic of Texas and the Kingdom of Hawaii.

We would like to wish everyone a happy 4th of July.
