Once again the winter months arrive and bring with them the opportunity to see a greater selection of animals. In Florida, in the dry season the weather is nicer and the mosquitos are no longer swarming making life miserable. It’s a great chance to capture birds and other fauna. This beautiful bird is a female cardinal.
The female uses a brown plumage with red highlights and not the bright red plumage the male does and therefore is not as easily identified. At first glance this might seem rather unfair to the female of the species. I mean everyone knows and loves the little bright red males. Myth and lore surround them as bringer of good luck and there is even sports teams named after them. But in reality, it’s actually the female that may have the luckiest plumage.
Cardinals tend to live in the underbrush and low trees due to the fact that they eat off the ground and the occasional backyard feeder. They also use those bushes for nesting and incubating their eggs. So, which plumage would you rather have if you’re sitting in a low-lying nest reachable by snakes, and Fluffy the killer house cat? I think I’d prefer to blend in with the drab browns.
As for our particular model, it’s true that cardinals do not migrate which means that our lovely little lady Cardinal probably lives near this spot with a male nearby. This bird was obviously curious to see if I had any saffron or sunflower seeds with me. She paused on the wooden rail and eyed me for any chance of a free meal. Unfortunately, for her, I don’t bait wildlife to get a shot, so no easy pickings for her.
Are you ready for holiday shopping? It’s a hard thing to image that the 2016 holiday season is already in full swing. I’m stating the obvious because before you know it will be gone. So, I’ve made a list of places north of Clearwater that enable you to view and purchase fine art at the same time! Don’t live in Florida? Well, I’ve got that covered too.
Last week we introduced our first batch of holiday cards for purchase in our very own online Gallery Gift Shop. These 5”x7” cards have a blank inside for your own personalized message and come complete with an envelope for gift giving or mailing. At our shop you will find all of our artwork that is available everywhere for both the starting collector and our avid fans. If you haven’t checked this store out, don’t wait!
Last week we took part in the opening of the Holiday show at the Gateway Gallery & Emporium, Inc. . Four different photographic works are now on display until January at this special juried show in downtown New Port Richey. We also are displaying several smaller works in the gift shop area. Stop by and see some great art!
This past week we also presented our work “Bird in Copper” to the Tarpon Springs Culture Center for inclusion in their annal Holiday Art Show. This show has 9 different categories of art displayed throughout Tarpon Springs historic original city hall. If you’re in the Clearwater and Tarpon Springs area drop by and visit!
Even though we’ve been busy at shows and displays all over the North Tampa area, I’ve found time to get into the studio and work on new pieces. Coming soon I will add new pieces to our butterfly collection and even a young fawn to our animals collection. So stay tuned and buy art!
Did you know that today I sent out a pre-release email of our next hit work of art just in time for Christmas? No?
Well, that’s because our Friends can see our newest works of art, when they are not released to the public yet.
Here is a hint. – It presents the primordial dance between sterile whites, subtle grays and powerful blacks. There is no greater duality than that of untainted black against the pure white. Curious?
Our holiday orders are up 200% over last year, that means that our Friends have the best chance of ordering that perfect gift. Why let them have all the glory? You can become a Friend also. It’s easy and we don’t spam or sell your information.
With Christmas quickly approaching everyone has begun getting into his or her last-minute Christmas shopping mode. If you’re like us, me made our list of gifts to buy slightly before Thanksgiving. However, the cold wet weather, Christmas parties, and family functions have dwindled the time to purchase quality gifts disappear quickly this year. But, there is something we are not going to do about it.
The last thing anyone actually wants to deal with is spam. So, A&A Photographic Arts isn’t going to send you any. That’s right, I ‘m not going to flood your mailbox with last-minute spammy messages of how you should consider buying fine art photography for that person on your list that has everything. We also will not send any emails mentioning you can buy quality photographic art that’s been put on sale, or tell you that the last day for overnight shipping for our online order system at Fine Art America is Dec.19th. Nope.
There is a strong reason why we don’t do heavy amounts of spam. This gallery receives close to 60-100 spam messages everyday. While my spam filter manages to collect about 90% of it, I still have to clear it out regularly. What is the result of all that spam? I’m not sure what a Ugg boot is, nor does any part of my body need to be “enhanced”, but I can guarantee you I will never purchase either.
The problem is this puts me in an advertising dilemma. Businesses like our gallery thrive on the ability to show my art to the world for the largest amount of exposure I can get. But, like I mentioned, I have no desire to send spam. Thus the best solution I’ve come up with to create a post like this.
So, if you like our solution of not sending spam this holiday season at the sacrifice of a blog post now and then; please send or mention our gallery to as many people you can think of. Or better yet, buy that gift we refused to advertise for that someone special.
