Well, who am I?
Welcome to the A&A Photographic Arts Blog. My name is Andrew and I tend to be the artistic one, while Ann, my wife, is much more centered in reality and have a sense of organization that is amazing. For the past 15 years I’ve lived the life of an archaeologist, anthropologist, technologist, theologian, and private school teacher. I walked around teaching classes with grandiose stories of history and culture in my head. Photography and the occasional collection of fine art were mere hobbies nothing more.
However, there are the 3 realities each of us must face. Death, taxes and change. When the universe is hitting you with 2 of them at the same time, you’d better listen. 4 years ago I contracted kidney cancer. The tumor had grown to golf ball size and was bulging the artery and outer kidney wall. If the doctors had not discovered that tumor I would be dead now. When you realize you’re alive when you should not be, you start to see all the small things very differently. Life was no longer a game of office politics and educational theories. It takes on a different meaning. Did you know that flowers have vibrant colors? Who knew grass could be that shade of green? The sky is actually blue, not some gray-brown color. Now I’m a cancer survivor, a photographer and a storyteller. Life is too short not to live it.
Join me on this blog as we investigate photography as an art, a technical science and as a way to express ourselves. This is a different form of art, it’s new, and it’s very stylish.
